 COMMUNITY EVENTS & OUTREACH

Joseph's Storehouse -- the Food Pantry at Gloria Dei
Open Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 am and Saturdays from 11:00 to 1:00 pm,
Joseph's Storehouse operated for eight years on Elwood Road in East Northport before moving to Gloria Dei in October 2018. A large and busy food pantry offers produce, meat and fish, refrigerated and frozen foods, baked goods, canned goods, etc. Affiliated with Long Island Cares and Island Harvest food banks, we offer “client choice shopping,” which means that clients may select their own food based on family needs and preferences.
In 2019, the pantry served over 4,000 families and 15,000 individuals.
Clothing and other household items are also sometimes available.

Huntington Lutheran Respite Center
From the beginning of December through March, Gloria Dei hosts on Tuesday evenings
up to 30 homeless men of our community overnight in Olson Hall.
Besides shelter, we provide dinner and breakfast the next morning.

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts
Gloria Dei sponsors Boy Scout Troop 34 and Cub Scout Pack 406.
The scouts are active in church outreach through our Food Pantry, neighborhood clean-ups,
and any number of other service projects to benefit the community. We love our Scouts!

Narcotics & Overeaters Anonymous & Recovery Bible Study
Three community recovery groups meet weekly at Gloria Dei.

 Community Christmas Dinner
For over thirty years, we’ve offered a free holiday meal, open to the public on Christmas day.
In 2019, we served nearly 200 people a full turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings!
